Garden of Light – Residence for Dr.Mujeeb and Dr.Shakeela

Garden of Light is a residential landscape envisioned by grandparents as a living classroom for their granddaughter — a garden that symbolizes light as knowledge, growth, and resilience. Designed to facilitate both active and passive learning, the landscape encourages interaction with nature through movement, observation, play, and quiet reflection. Spaces are carefully structured to be accessible and engaging for all ages, fostering shared experiences between generations.

The garden unfolds as a sequence of arrival courts, semi-private courts, tree courts, and the central Court of Light, connected through walk- and cycle-friendly pathways. Existing trees, a bamboo grove, and a well were retained and integrated into the design, while bioswales, water elements, seasonal planting, and activity-oriented seating enhance ecological awareness. Materials such as terracotta, natural stone, cobble paving, and grass pavers ground the garden in its regional context. The result is a layered, biodiverse landscape where learning happens organically — through seasons, textures, light, and everyday life.
