Lucid Home Garden

Lucid Home Garden is a 1.8-acre residential landscape in Edappal, set within Kerala's expansive paddy fields and wetlands. While the surrounding context is rich with biodiversity, the site itself was heavily altered, containing only a sparse teak plantation and a few coconut trees. The design intent was not to replicate the paddy ecosystem visually, but to restore the life and ecological vibrancy that defines the region — allowing biodiversity to return and thrive within a residential setting.

Structured around contextual integration, ecological sensitivity, and functional resilience, the landscape wraps the home within a layered green framework. Existing teak trees were retained and strengthened as spatial anchors, while native and naturalized species were introduced to support pollinators, bird habitats, and long-term sustainability. A fruit orchard and balanced waterbody reinforce ecological interaction, and clear circulation ensures daily usability. Over time, the garden has evolved into a living system — gradually aligning with the surrounding wetlands and fulfilling its intention of becoming both habitat and home.
